Hi, I'm Nicole Townsend - I'm a journalist interested in print, visual & audio storytelling

About Me

Hi, I'm Nicole Townsend, and I am currently a senior Student Journalist at Emerson College, with a minor in Pre-Law. I am interested in various aspects of journalism, including print, visual, and audio storytelling. In high school, I was Editor in Chief of my school's newspaper, The Cavalier Times, and graduated with two Editor in Chief medals. Also, I was the Head Anchor of my school's broadcast, South Side Live, so I have experience in broadcast journalism, including writing scripts and speaking in front of a camera. I was also awarded a medal for South Side Live.

Furthermore, I was the chosen representative for Pennsylvania for The Washington Journalism and Media Conference 2020, and I was an intern for The Cornell Hospital Newspaper at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, New York, NY. Moreover, I interned for Journey Beyond Aspen Magazine in the summer of 2023 and have written for The Bay State Banner in 2023-2024.  I also participated in The Washington Center Academic Program, where I was a Junior Media and Content Creator Intern for Districtly Speaking.

Previously, I have held positions as vice president of Flawless Brown, an organization dedicated to uplifting self-identifying women and nonbinary people of color, and Chair of Flawless Sisterhood. I was also the Communication Outreach Coordinator for Emerson's Chapter of the National Association for Black Journalists. I was a Staff Writer for many of the magazines on campus, including Flawless Writes and YourMag. I also wrote for WEBN Web. I am dedicated and driven in what I do. I love storytelling and have an immense passion for sharing others' stories.
